After reading the summary for this book, I was ready to dive in with some anticipation for a good book. To start off, the details and imagery in this book were creative and thoughtful. There was so much excitement in this novel, and it felt like the danger would never end. One thing, however, that I wish the book had was more time to develop. I felt that the whole plot was a bit rushed, and that by the end of the book, I didn't really know the characters better than when it had started. This book is less a story, and more an event to tell about, and that's why I feel like I enjoyed it less. It is an easy read, but might be mildly scary for younger readers, so I would recommend the book for ages 8+

The Worst Vacation Ever!
Thirteen-year-old Kyle thought spending a vacation on the Oregon coast with his family would be great. He'd never flown before, and he'd never seen the Pacific Ocean.
One evening Kyle is left in charge of his younger sister, BeeBee, while his parents attend an adults-only Salesman of the Year dinner on an elegant yacht.
Then the earthquake comes -- starting a fire in their hotel! As Kyle and BeeBee fight their way out through smoke and flame, Kyle remembers the sign at the beach that said after an earthquake everyone should go uphill and inland, as far from the ocean as possible. Giant tsunami waves -- three or four stories high can ride in from the sea and engulf anyone who doesn't escape fast enough.
Kyle and BeeBee flee uphill as a tsunami crashes over the beach, the hotel, and the town. The giant wave charges straight up the hillside and through the woods where the children are running for their lives. The perfect vacation has become a nightmare! Somehow Kyle and BeeBee have to outwit nature's fury and save themselves from tsunami terror.

It is epic!
This book was amazing. This is the first book by Peg Kehret and it wont be the last. My favorite thing about the book was the surprises the led up to the tsunami.
I could not put this book down
This is probably now one of my favorite books. I couldn't stop reading it. And Peg Kehret is a really good author. She adds so many details. It's kinda like an adventure book. Some parts in this book it's really risky. After they get through the fire they meet Norm and Josie. They start walking up the hill to get as far as they can away from the ocean. Soon they get really tired they have to stop. So they set on a bench and wait awhile. But then Norm and Josie told them to keep walking and leave them behind. After BeeBee and Kyle walked a long way. Pansy got up with them. Read the book and find out what happen to Norm, Pansy, Josie, BeeBee, and Kyle. Will BeeBee and Kyle ever see their parents again? Does their parent's ship capsize? Will Kyle ever stick up for himself to Daren?
This book is about a boy and girl that go on a vacation and they get caught in an earthquake.
