When I saw Guitar Notes on the shelf in the library, I picked it up without a clue what it was about. I had no idea how much I would love it. Tripp Broody loves to play the guitar, but his mom took his guitar away. When he plays his guitar, he always feels happy and in his own magical place. So he uses the practice room on odd calendar days. Lyla Marks is the best cellist in the school, and has won multiple awards for her spectacular playing. She, however, isn't happy when she plays, but with the pressure of her dad, best friend Annie, and her reputation of being the best, continues to enter contests and play the cello. She uses the same practice room as Tripp on even calendar days. Soon, Tripp and Lyla start leaving notes for each other, and those notes grow into a big friendship between them. Both of their lives are changed forever because of the friendship that no one would have thought Lyla and Tripp could have. Guitar Notes is a great book. I really like how it shows how two very different people connect in such an amazing way. I would recommend this book to boys and girls ages 10+.

I was hesitant to read this at first, because it used extremely easy words and wasn't a challenge, but I loved it. It was the best book I have read all year. Anyone know if there's a sequel?
this is a really good book it really got me to think about a lot of things and you keep on saying what is going to happen next when you read this book.
This entire story is told in the form of notes that two students leave for each other in a guitar left in a music practice room at their school. The book is both funny and sweet. An extra plus is a website where you can listen to the songs composed by the two young people.
