I like reading fairytale but this one is kind of scary and somewhat violent. It is different from the usual fairytale that you normally read.

This book is the bloody, true story of Hansel and Gretel. I would have never picked this book up if my friend hadn't have recommended it to me. It was a great story with a very funny narrator in it. I recommend this book and it's companion, In a Glass Grimmly.
This book is about the REAL story of Hansel and Gretel. The creepy version. Read this book and get the chills, about witches and edible houses.
Hansel and Gretel are the main characters in this book. You may think it is just about them running away from home now that i mentioned it, but it is about the true adventurous story of there life. Their adventures had lots of ups and downs, but in the end it all turns out ok.
REVIEW FOR IN A GLASS GRIMMLY AND A TALE DARK & GRIMM: Hansel and Gretel is not just breadcrumbs and evil witches. There's more to the story than that. Same with Jack and Jill. They didn't just fall down a hill. There were other details; details that were not told in the original short version. Or so Adam Gidwitz tells us. Both pairs of characters long for something different in their lives. These extremely scary and gory tales capture their journeys. Hansel and Gretel long for good parents who wouldn't cut off the heads of their children, and Jack and Jill are ashamed of something, and are looking for a new home and life. In two enthralling tales of adventure and gore, Adam Gidwitz's first two books are sure to make readers fans of the author and leave them begging for more fairy tales. My Thoughts: I really loved these two stories. They were so perfectly written and the author is SO creative! He must have quite an imagination to put all of this together into one story. At the end of In A Glass Grimmly, he says where the stories came from and that is very fascinating. I also have to give him a high-five for the character Eidechse von Feuer, der Menschenfleischfressende, the giant salamander; both the name and the character himself are awesome, as well as the spunky narrator who warns us throughout the story when lots of gore is up ahead. The cover art is amazing, and Hugh D'Andrade did a fantabulous job with the art. This book totally made me want to read more fairy tales and I think Adam Gidwitz deserves a standing ovation for these wonderful retellings and his creative adding on. These books are a must-read for fairy tale lovers, and especially for Grimm fans! I can not wait for the final book, The Grimm Conclusion, coming in October!
This story is about the bloody, "true" tale of Hansel and Gretel. What I like about this book is that it has a bunch of different fairy tales in one. It was a great book and I highly recommend it to 5th graders or really mature 4th graders. Hansel and Gretel go on trips to amazing, fairy tale places where they get in to trouble and get out of trouble. What could be better than this blood curling tale?

I loved this book and I don't like to read. It was gory, but fictional gory. It was cool to read. I read the second book too.
