Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

I love the Hunger Games series! The movies are also great! ❤️

In the ruins of former North America lies the nation of Panem. The capitol is surrounded by twelve districts. The only way the capitol knows to keep the districts in line is by the hunger games. Each district must send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve to eighteen to participate in the games, a fight to the death on television. Winning the games means fame and fortune while losing means certain death. When the contestants are chosen for the seventy-fourth hunger games are chosen and twelve year old Prim Everdeen is chosen, sixteen year old Katniss knows she has to take her sister's place. Even though Katniss has been close to death before, she still regards the games as a death sentence. Katniss knows she and her partner Peeta must win for district twelve. Awaiting her fait, Katniss knows she must try her best and survive, for the sake of district twelve, and her family, but if she does win, she doesn't want to give up her privacy and her life. The games change lives, but will it change Katniss and Peeta's life?

This is my all time favorite book by a long shot! Perfect for readers 11-13. I used to hate sci-fi, but when I read this book it was so amazing. The Hunger Games is a dystopian book where there are 12 districts and a place called the Capital. The Capital is the richest and then there's District 1 and District 2, and they get poorer and poorer as you go down. Now about the title: There had once been 13 districts but the thirteenth decided to rebel and the Capital won a war against them. Ever sense the Capital has taken 1 boy and 1 girl from each District to compete in the Hunger Games. Enjoy!

This book is amazing! I kept hearing about how amazing this book is so I decided to check it out, and now it is my favorite book! It is about Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, who has had a crush on Katniss for a while. After Katniss, who volunteers to take her sister's place in the Hunger Games, a cometition where 12 boys and 12 girls battle each other until only one remains alive, she and Peeta are placed in a arena with other kids to battle. It is an amazing, thrilling book, with dystipian, action, and a bit of romance.

I just love this book! It is basically about Peeta and Katniss who go into the games and have to act as "star crossed lovers" ever since Peeta confessed that he loved Katniss. Every year there is a thing called "reaping" it is a thing when two people male and female are chosen to fight in the "hunger games". But when Katniss' sister Primrose Everdeen gets called, chaos erupts. Katniss knows that she has to do something, so she volunteers as a tribute. Then Peeta gets called... They make it to the games safely, but they both have to survive, now that they are lovers... There can only be one victor. But when everyone else is dead, someone has to die... When Katniss finds the poisonous berries who will be the final victor? Peeta, or Katniss...

This book is a fun action packed book staring Katniss Everdeen "The girl on fire!" This book is an exciting story filled with many plot twists and you will never want to put it down!

This book is hunger-driven (excuse the pun) and delectably wonderful. Suzanne Collins is a genius. Now that there are also movie adaptations, I can't wait to compare them to each other. Recommend you read this book if you're into a dystopian book setting. Nice read when you want to escape reality.

The Hunger Games series are such a good series I love it it is so fast paced and really cool with all of the hybrid species like the "tracker-jacker" it is so amazing.

It was a really nice book to read. The plot and characters really stuck out to me. The fact that Peta and Katniss are forced to almost kill each other is a nice twist.

I really wanna read this book!!!!!
