Kids Books - Science Fiction

This is definitely one of my new favorite books. I love all of the main characters, they all have depth and flaws but are still lovable. the plot was never once boring I enjoyed finding out the main characters backstory, and the main story held suspense. This book centers around war in a fantasy world with almost very slight dystopian aspects. I would recommend for fantasy lovers ages 13+.

In Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, twelve year old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl discovers the existence of fairies living below the Earth's surface. Driven by a desire for the fairy peoples' gold, he hatches a dastardly plan to kidnap a fairy to exchange to said gold. However, the fairies, reluctant to part with their gold, are willing to go head to head with the teenage genius to save their friend, and protect their species from exposure. In this middle grade fantasy novel, Colfer spins together an exciting tale like never before. With insane plots, dastardly rescue missions, and youthful humor, the reader will be glued to the pages of this book until the end. (Which, as the series is eight novels long, may be quite some time.)

It has been a year since the Artemis Fowl Incident, abduction and ransom of LEP recon officer Holly Short, led by the notorious, brilliant, twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl the second. But there is new havoc in Haven City. Someone -a human- has been selling batteries to half-witted goblins with soft-nosed lasers, and Holly Short is on the case. Immediatly suspecting Artemis, Holly returns to Fowl Manor to consult and accuse Artemis. But Artemis has his own problems. An e-mail is sent to him from Russia, an e-mail featurng his dying father. He is sure a ransom will be sent soon. Now, for the first time, Artemis and the LEP must work together to prevent the Lower Elements and the human world from colliding, and to save Artemis' father. But these are uncharted waters, with unsuspecting enemies and traitors.

What an amazing way to end the series! But I don't think he should have brought back Opal Kobai for the fourth time! He should have brought in a new bad guy instead. I do think he should make a series about the childhood of one of the other main characters in the book. I would still recommend it for tweens.

Artemis Fowl is a genius. He's outsmarted and befriended an entire race of elves and dwarves, assisted in stopping the goblin rebellion, foiled the Russian mafia, and saved his presumably dead father. He is now only 14. But when Artemis discovers he is not the only teenager with knowledge of the fairy races, he must once again team up with former LEP captain Holly Short, and travel through time and space to stop this teen from exposing the secrets of Magic, and prevent the invasion of a species that's been gone 10,000 years. And it's comes down to one question: who is the real enemy? In the fifth installment of the Artemis Fowl series, written by Eoin Colfer, we are once again introduced to new characters, both funny, scary, and sad. One of the best parts of this series is how the author gives us a new way to look at things, unveiling some of the "truth" about Earth's history. This book is definitely one to read, but of course I recommend the first four books as well.

Artemis' symptoms include extreme obsessive compulsive disorder, paranoia, multiple personality disorder, and, in his extreme case, humiliating love-filled confessions to eight-year former nemesis, now ally Captain Holly Short. But a dangerous foe from Holly's past is loose, and Artemis, (not his romantic-crazed second personality, Orion), is the only one able to stop him.

When his mother catches a sudden and strange disease, fourteen-year-old Artemis Fowl seeks the help of his fairy friends. When Captain Holly Short takes a look, she has no other option but to declare a case of Spelltropy, a fairy disease that was thought to have been rid of years ago, but has apparently been spread to humans. The only cure for Spelltropy is the brain fluid of the silky sifaka, a lemur drove to extinction eight years ago, by ten-year-old Artemis Fowl himself. Now, in order to save his mother, Artemis the elder must travel back in time to prevent himself from selling the lemur to the odious Dr. Kronski, president of the Extinctionists. But after saving the world from megalomaniac pixies and power-crazed demons, has Artemis Fowl met his match- himself? Along the way, Artemis may also run into some old friends- and some top archenemies.

Nice book! Artemis fowl has been mindwiped so he didn't remember anything about fairies. He wants to steal an amazing 'The fairy thief' painting which can raise his criminal standard! On the other hand, Opal Koboi, the greatest villain is back with her evil and destructive plans! She murdered Julius Root and everyone thinks Holly is responsible for this! Opal wants to become a human and she mesmerized a human who now thinks Opal is her daughter. She wants to take the revenge from Artemis, Holly and Julius for failing her goblin revolution plan. She wants to became the queen of human and fairy world! Will they be able to stop her evil plans? Will Artemis remember his fairy friends and help them beat Opal? Read to find out! Have fun reading!

Thirteen-year-old Artemis Fowl has constructed a super computer from stolen fairy technology far more advanced and expensive than anything we have now. Everything isn't that calm, neither is life when you are with Vesper Holly, her guardian Brinnie along with his wife, Mary as we all set out to Europe with a royal invitation to celebrate the diamond jubilee. But as soon as Holly got in Europe, they got in problems and battles along the way. Mary, Brinnie's wife got kidnapped, another kingdom wants to capture Drackenberg as their own expansion for their own kingdom, and faced Dr. Helvitius. So in order to help Drackenberg, Holly then must set out to seek the lost painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Will she make out alive once again after this adventure? - Happy Reading!
