I love this book, but it has some mild content that might make you sad (especially if you're an animal lover). Maryellen Larkin and her mother are dreaming up jingles for companies like Schwinn and Jell-O. However, they just can't win. Then Scooter, the family dachshund disappears. Maryellen and her family (Beverly, Carolyn, Mom, Dad, Tom, and Mikey) and friends (Karen Stohlman, Karen King, Angela, Davy, and Wayne the Pain) look around for him--and discover that Scooter isn't the only dog who disappeared. They discover that Bark Haven, a dog rescue center, may be helping to steal dogs. And there's the ice cream man, Mr. Brad, who is also a suspect. The missing dogs couldn't have just vanished into thin air. No. The possibility is more terrifying than Maryellen thought it could be. What if Scooter and the other dogs didn't run away? What if...they were stolen?
