According to Oxford Languages dictionary Determined means “having made a firm decision and being resolved not to change it” determined is a really good way to describe protagonist of this book. The title of the book is “The Savages Fortress” By Sarwat Chadda, the protagonist of the story is named Ashoka or Ash Mistry. This book mainly takes place in India. The antagonist of this story is Lord Alexander Savage and The Rakshasas. The cool flashback at the beginning of the book, you’re really going to want to pay attention to that part because it has a lot to do with the book. Also the arrowhead do not take that lightly if you end up reading the book you’ll see why. Determined is a really suitable describing word for him because, he swore to his uncle and aunt who unfortunately died in a car crash that he’d protect his sister lucky. I really enjoyed this book while reading it. It’s like an underdog story and I really enjoy those. He wouldn’t let her out of his site at all times unless physically forced apart or they threaten to hurt her. I would recommend this book to ages 11 and higher, it’s a lot to take in all at once.

I loved this book!. It was well written, but I felt like I could expect everything that happened next, which didn't make it that fun to read. I thought that the mythology aspect was used very well, and I loved how it weaved its way into the plot.

I really want to read it
I have to admit, the beginning didn't really hook me; I being a sophisticated reader and all. But as I read on, I was really intrigued and I couldn't stop reading. After Ash and Lucky Mistry lost their beloved aunt and uncle, they realize that India is a place lurking with demons and hidden treasure. When Ash found the golden arrow head of the goddess of death, he and his sister are tailed by rakshasas (demons) as they escape to a place that is the only refuge for them. Ash foolishly led Lucky and himself out of this refuge, hoping to find their dad and get back home, when Lucky is kidnapped. Now Ash has to work with a rakshasa name Parvati to get his sister back and solve the mystery of the golden arrowhead.
I think this is a good review on the book it explains just enough on the book.
The Savage Fortress is a book about a boy named Ash Mistry. He and his sister, Lucky, are visiting Varanasi, India. They stay with their Uncle Vik and Aunt Anita. Just as Ash is sure he’s ready to leave Varanasi, he discovers an arrowhead. It is no ordinary arrowhead though. It is a Khali-aastra. Lord Savage Alexander is looking for that aastra to open iron gates. Savage hunts Ash and Lucky down. Savage wants the aastra to revive Ravana, an evil king in legend. That is exactly what Savage does. Ash died; but the god, Khali, revives him. Now he IS the Khali-aastra. Luckily, Ash kills Ravana. He works with a Rakshasa girl named Parvati. After Ravana dies, everything goes back to normal. Ash’s dad finds him and takes him back to London. But now, Ash wants to stay in Varanasi, he doesn’t want to leave. I think The Savage Fortress is a very good book. It has many descriptive details in the book. I like the setting. I also like how the story was plotted. This is what I like about this book. I could make this book better in many ways. I would change the part where Savage sends his evil Rakshasa to hunt down Ash and Lucky. To make the story more exciting, I would put Ash and Lucky get into one of Savage’s traps. This is one way I would change the story.
