This book was great! It was very interesting learning more about Babe Ruth and how he became a very famous baseball player. I think it is very nice that he visited children in hospitals and donated money to the school that he went to as a child. Now I know that his player number for the Yankees was the number three!

Babe Ruth came from a poor Baltimore family and, as a kid, he was a handful. It was at a reform school that Babe discovered his talent for baseball, and by the age of nineteen, he was on his way to becoming a sports legend. Babe was often out of shape and even more often out on the town, but he had a big heart and an even bigger swing! Kids will learn all about the Home Run King in this rags-to- riches sports biography. With black-and-white illustrations throughout, a true sports legend is brought to life.

When Babe was a kid he was a bit of a trouble maker . One day Babe thought his father was taking him somewhere exciting but he was really taking Babe to a troubled school for boys . His parents never visited him . The school ended up being a good thing to Babe . He ended up starting to play baseball at the school with the other kids . And he got very very good at it. You need to read the book to find out everything! Thank you for this review! I recommend to all ages and I rate this book 4/5 stars 😁 -Pizzagirl7
I already knew what Babe Ruth looked like and I know he’s a baseball player in the 80’s. I might not remember most of his biography but that’s all I know 🤷🏾♀️
Do you think that someone with a bad background can make it to a big stage like the mlb and be one of the greatest players ever? In Who Was Babe Ruth? By Joan Holub the protagonist, Babe Ruth goes through a tough life. Going from the worst of the worst to the best of the best. He starts off living in Baltimore with a poor family and getting in lots of trouble. his parents end up putting him in a boys school, named St Marys. Where he met his hero, Brother Mathias. He turned babes life around. He taught him how to be a better baseball player and pushed him to his hardest. They both didn't think he would make it to the big stage. While he was in Boston playing for the Red Sox he met his wife named Hellen Woodford. They had a daughter but things didn't work out and they got divorced. But then BOOM he breaks through only getting 1000 dollars during his first year. He gets traded around in the MLB and ends with the yankees. He gets paid a lot more and becomes one of the best players to walk the face of the earth. He was hitting the ball harder and further than anyone ever has. He ended up getting in trouble and drinking and smoking too much. He was overweight but he did amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes baseball.
Who was Babe Ruth is a great book If you like sports and baseball this book is for you. Its a lot about how Babe grew up and how he had a rough childhood. He went to a orphange call St mary thats where he learned to play baseball. I can connect to this book because this reminds me of another book about tiger woods how he didn't have the best childhood. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars because at some chapters it got boring .
I like this book because it talks about babes rough past. His family was poor and he lived in Baltimore. He ends up in an orphanage called St. Marys. Which where he learned to play baseball. When he was on the Boston Red Sox he was a really good pitcher. Then he told coach he wanted to hit more (His pitching interfered with his hitting). When Babe got signed with the Yankees he had a bruised knee and infected elbow. I can't really relate to Babe in this story, although I really liked it.
I like this book because the big Idea about the book is talking about babe Ruth lifetime period.babe Ruth when he was 19 years old when jack the head coach ask jack to be on his team. And babe Ruth is like the best baseball player ever.red sox buyed a lot of there payers because they don't have Efren money for all of the players so they took most of there player and the red sox took babe Ruth
